Rigoletto by Giuseppe Verdi, returns to the Teatro Real in Madrid – Terra Mexico

Madrid, November 26 (Notimex) .- The Teatro Real in Madrid premiere on November 30 the opera Rigoletto by Giuseppe Verdi, with 16 functions of production from the Royal Opera House Covent Garden in London. At a press conference, the artistic directors of the assembly noted that it is a full version of the opera without cuts, which also challenges the current public about the corrupt environment and injustice Verdi portrays in his work. From November 30 to December 29 16 functions will be offered with three different casts, with the choir and orchestra directed by Italian Nicola Luisotti, except on December 26 that will replace Jordi Bernácer. The staging is created in the last decade by the Scotsman David McVicar and response for the occasion by Justin Way, which the piece of Verdi (1813-1901) returns to Madrid theater after its submission in 2009. Luisotti recalled problems of the Italian opera composer to realize this, because at the time it was considered immoral raised some issues such as prostitution, and had to make changes and yet it was a critique of the vices of the Italians of that time. He also indicated that the consequences of conflict weighed Italian unification in the composition of Verdi, who also noted that the corrupt environment of that time could develop virtues. The work, with a libretto by Francesco Maria Peave, based on the work of Victor Hugo “The King has fun,” recounts abuse and corruption of a lazy king, the Duke of Mantua, the hunchbacked jester Rigoletto revenge, and his daughter Gilda who is a victim of it. The cast includes the role of the Duke of Mantua to Stephen Costello, Francesco Demuro, Ho-Yoon Chung, and Piero Pretti; Leo Nucci as Rigoletto, Juan Jesus Rodriguez and Luca Salsi, and as Gilda Olga Peretyatko and Lisette Osopesa.
