Maurice White, founder of the group Earth, Wind & Fire, dies at 74 – Investing.com Spain

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) – Maurice White, founder of the funk band Earth, Wind & amp; Fire, died in Los Angeles at age 74, said Thursday a spokesman for the band.

White died at his home on Wednesday night, explained the publicist Mark Young. The details of the cause of death were not immediately available.

“My brother, hero and best friend Maurice White died peacefully last night,” Verdine White, White’s brother and a member of the band, in a statement on the group’s page on Facebook (O:).

Earth, Wind & Dev. Fire was founded by White, a drummer, in 1969 after he moved from Chicago to Los Angeles. The Grammy-winning band enjoyed numerous successes, including “Shining Star,” “Boogie Wonderland” and “September”.
