The British production Foodles Production, responsible for filming in the UK of “Star Wars: The Force Awakens”, to stand trial for the accident that killed actor Harrison Ford while filming, the watchdog of British labor safety Health and Safety Executive (HSE).
Ford, 73, broke his leg and suffered other injuries in June 2014 after being hit by a heavy metal hydraulic door in the set that recreates the spaceship Millennium Falcon.
A spokesman for the HSE moved that the producer faces on 12 May at the Magistrates Court High Wycombe a process which is charged with four counts related to the accident of actor. “By law, employers must take reasonable steps to protect workers. This should apply both as a film set in a factory,” the British agency. “The charges relate to the incident during the filming of ‘Star Wars Episode VII’ Harrison Ford that caused severe injuries after being hit by a hydraulic door,” the agency under the Ministry of Labor and Pensions UK reported. The regulator says it has “thoroughly investigated” the case and considered to have “sufficient evidence to defend” the accusations before the magistrate. When he suffered injuries, Ford, returning to the role of Han Solo in the seventh installment of the saga of Star Wars, was airlifted to a hospital in Oxford for treatment.
