Los Angeles .- Tony Burton, one of the most memorable actors of the Rocky saga died at age 78 California, United States.

Burton, who portrayed the character Apollo Creed coach, Duke Evans. The former boxer and football player appeared alongside Sylvester Stallone in the first three installments of the franchise.

Carl Weathers, the actor who gave life to Creed, was the one who reported the death of Burton through its account on the social network Twitter, highlighting the talent and intensity of the actor.

Due to medical problems suffered in recent times, Burton could not see the latest installment of Rocky, “Believe,” which premiered a few weeks ago and focused on the grandson of Apollo.

Before reaching the film, Burton won two titles in the heavyweight category (1955 and 1957), played football and baseball. In 1993, he was inducted into the Hall of Fame African American athletes.

The actor also spent three and a half years in prison for stealing.
