MEXICO CITY (CNNExpansión) – Nelle Harper Lee, 1961 Pulitzer prize for his literary work Kill a Mockingbird (1960), died Friday at 89 years old in Monroeville, Alabama his hometown.

The city of Monroeville social networks confirmed the death of the author. In addition, a spokeswoman for the local mayor told AFP that the writer “actually died” after spending his last years in his nursing home.

She had suffered a stroke in 2007 and since then faced with serious health problems, reported EFE.

In July 2015, after 55 years of waiting for readers, the writer started selling the surprise second part of his literary classic Go and put a sentinel in which he continues narrating the story of his beloved character, Atticus Finch.
