David Bowie is honored at the Brit Awards – El Diario de Yucatán

         


     

London, 24 February (EFE) .- The Brit awards celebrating British music today paid tribute to the late artist David Bowie, who was posthumously awarded him the Brit Icon award for his contribution to world pop culture.

the prize was collected by his friend the actor Gary Oldman who gave a heartfelt speech to remind Bowie during the ceremony of the 36th edition of the Brit awards held in London today.

 

British actor stood in front of the public of O2 stadium to praise the spirit of “innovation” Bowie, who died of cancer in January at age 69, always put in his music.

“the world lost a man and an artist of significance,” said Oldman, who blew the audience in applause after noting that his “contribution to culture” can not “call” anyone else.

“David Bowie was the living definition of the word icon,” continued the actor, who claimed that potential teammate was “supernatural” and that his music “remain”.

“Throughout his career we he said that we must never take ourselves too seriously, “he said.

the British singer Annie Lennox was commissioned to make way for Oldamn, not without evidence that the manner in which Bowie played the limits made him someone “dangerous and legendary”.

“the legacy of his sound and his way of seeing the world will continue until the earth stop spinning,” said the interpreter.

to close the tribute artist Lorde New Zealand took the stage to sing “Life on Mars” with the band shell London, a moment that touched both the young man and the present audience, which was made quickly standing. EFE
