Presenter dies in Spain and British singer Cilla Black – El Universal (Venezuela)

London .- The popular British TV presenter and singer Cilla Black died Sunday in Spain at 72 years of age, his agent.

The body of Black, whose real name was Priscilla White, was found dead at his home in Estepona, near Marbella (south), according to the Daily Telegraph and the Daily Mirror, which quoted the Spanish police.

It was one of the most popular faces on British television for over 50 years. In the early 1960s he began a successful career of pop singer after meeting the Beatles at the Cavern club in his hometown of Liverpool.

In 1963, released their first single and the following year placed two songs in the top of the charts: “You’re My World” and “Anyone Who Had a Heart “.

In 1968 got his own TV show and began a successful career that led her to present some of the most popular British television spaces.

Among his biggest hits would highlight programs as “Surprise Surprise”, in which the guests received a surprise of his family or celebrities on the set, or “Blind date”, in which participants sought partner.

The British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) awarded him in 2014 a special award, calling it “icon”, AFP reported.

According to Bafta presented more than 500 TV shows and appeared in nearly 400 as a guest, getting hearings often about 18 million people.
