Iran cancels Barenboim concert by his Israeli passport – El Universal (Venezuela)

Tehran. -. The director of the Argentine-Israeli conductor Daniel Barenboim will not give a concert in Tehran, as planned, as the authorities of the Persian country does not permit

“Iran does not recognize the Zionist regime (Israel) and not cooperate with any artist of the regime, “said a ministry spokesman quoted by the Persian Culture Iranian news agency Fars.

On Thursday, Barenboim confirmed it was in talks to perform a concert in Tehran with the Staatskapelle Berlin. The performance would be sponsored by the German Foreign Minister, Frank-Walter Steinmeier.

According to the spokesman added, Hussein Nushbadi, as the Ministry was informed that the conductor of the planned concert had Israeli citizenship, the show was canceled by the minister himself.

Earlier, the Minister of Israeli culture, Miri Regev, had announced its intention to send a letter of protest to the German government for the concert Barenboim in Tehran.
