“Regression”, the new Alejandro Amenabar, will inaugurate the Festival of San Sebastian (and new images) – Howling

Although it was an open secret it was not until today when it has been confirmed officially that regression, the new work of Alejandro Amenábar starring Ethan Hawke and Emma Watson will open the 63rd edition of the San Sebastián International Film Festival.

The world premiere of the film presented in the Official Selection out of competition, will take place on Friday September 18th at the Kursaal Auditorium Theatre. Alejandro Amenabar, which won the Oscar for “Mar Adentro”, returns to the genre film after the success of The Other, the world’s largest Spanish production fund also received critical acclaim. Scripted by the director himself, the film shot in Canada and in English, is produced by Fernando Bovaira (The Others, Agora, Offshore, Biutiful).

Minnesota, 1990. Kenner detective Bruce (Ethan Hawke) is investigating the case of the young Angela (Emma Watson), who accuses his father, John Gray (David Dencik), to commit an unspeakable crime. When John unexpectedly and without remembering what happened, admits his guilt, the renowned psychologist Dr. Raines (David Thewlis) joins the event to help revive his repressed memories. What they discover unmasked a sinister conspiracy.

We have also added a dozen new images of this psychological thriller starring Ethan Hawke (Boyhood) and Emma Watson (Beauty and the Beast, Harry Potter) in the which also include the names of David Thewlis (The theory of everything, Harry Potter), David Dencik (The Mole, Millennium: Men Who Hate Women), Lothaire Bluteau (The Tudors), Dale Dickey (Winter’s Bone True Blood) and Devon Bostick (Diary of a Wimpy).
