Ricardo Darin and Gloria Estefan, awarded by the Spanish Government – El Universal (Venezuela)

The Spanish Government has awarded today the Golden Medal for Merit in the Fine Arts 2016 the argentine actor Ricardo Darín and the cuban singer Gloria Estefan, among others, for his outstanding work in the field of artistic creation.

Darin has appeared in more than 40 films, among which “The son of the bride” or “Moon of Avellaneda”. In addition, she starred in three films nominated for the Oscars. In 2015 he won the Concha de Plata at the Festival de Cine de San Sebastián for his performance in “Truman”.

The singer, songwriter and actress Gloria Estefan is considered the “Mother of Latin pop”, as indicated by the Ministry of Culture. He has won numerous awards, including seven Grammy awards, and has a star on the Walk of Fame of Hollywood. Last year she received with her husband the Medal of Freedom of the united States.

Among the 21 distinguished this year with the award granted by the Spanish Government and also highlight the Spanish actor José Coronado, which won the Goya award for best actor in 2011 for “there will be No peace for the wicked”, and the pianist argentina Martha Argerich, considered one of the greatest exponents of his generation.

The flamenco guitarist “Tomatito”, the dancer and choreographer Rafael Amargo, the bullfighter known as “El Juli”, the prestigious basque chef Pedro Subijana and the well-known designer Lorenzo Caprile to join the list of the awardees of this year.
