The cazamisóginos – The Financial

This is not really a review of Ghostbusters , the rehash directed by Paul Feig, in which Melissa McCarthy, Leslie Jones, Kristen Wiig and interpret Kate McKinnon the Ghostbusters title, repeating the plot of the first Ghostbusters , but investing genres most central roles.

The film is loose. Feig is a director of skits more than one film; his humor is auditory, visual rare time: several of his stitches could be on Spotify. Except for 10 seconds in which delicious McKinnon dispatched a group of spectra without help, Ghostbusters works when your characters dialogue and collapses when they turn on the laser guns. However, given the misogynist ámpula that raised before its release, the film quality matters little. Separated from its predecessors, as work is dispensable. As a thermometer of machismo, in a country that could elect its first female president, deserves reading in detail.

A recent article on Feig in the New York Magazine , entitled who Ya Gonna Troll? , reveals to what extent the principal is committed to making commercial films, starring women, who appeal to the female audience. His last four films prove it: Bridesmaids, Spy, The Heat and Ghostbusters take historically male subgenres (buddy movies full of scatological humor, tapes spies), with McCarthy and Wiig in the lead roles.

Ghostbusters

the article draws a director who grew up surrounded by women, interested in promoting equal opportunities for both sexes in Hollywood. Although fear affect the box office does not support it, Ghostbusters is more than “just a comedy about ghosts” as Feig describes it.

The original film, directed by Ivan Reitman , has it become the cause celebre of the misogynist because, beyond its virtues (and if any), is a comedy full of men, where women make victims, secretaries or raunchy phantoms. It is an adolescent fantasy from start to finish, peppered with sexist innuendo. When a librarian sees a ghost, Venkman (Bill Murray) asks if she is menstruating to make sure it is sane.
Reitman shows us that same character while performing an experiment whose purpose is to get an appointment with a blonde student, which Venkman probably twice her age. We must therefore understand that Feig not decided refritear any comedy of the 80s, but this one, in which four men save the world after getting rid of a demon that is (you guessed it!) A woman.

Feig not content to change the gender of the central quartet. Your Ghostbusters is an explicit response to machismo Reitman and company. Here men are villains, fools or both at once. Even Bill Murray appears as antagonistic while Sigourney Weaver turns out to be the teacher’s character McKinnon. Suffice it to stress that towards the end the girls face a giant spectrum identical to the famous logo of the original, and shooting him in the testicles due. Subtle is not. And it’s okay not. It’s a shame that for reasons of marketing , Feig and his cast have claimed that Ghostbusters 2016 is not a reply to Ghostbusters 1984. The Ghostbusters they raised ámpula because they were designed to do.

a month that the United States decide between choosing the worst candidate in history or the first presidential candidate, the controversy around Ghostbusters reveals the difficult road ahead Hillary Clinton and weight will unfortunately misogyny in the election. If a silly film caused such anger caliber in a sector of the population, I do not want to imagine how those same gender will get when they fall 20 that a woman can become president. For Yorkers monsters, I prefer man marshmallow before Donald Trump
