Some say that movies today are not as good as before.

The editors of culture BBC realized that this belief (or resignation) was common among film critics when they were consulted last year on what were the 100 best American films of all time.

Only six had been shot from 2000.

So decided to ask this year to 177 critics around the world for the best 100 films of this century that, in his opinion, will survive the passage weather.

Every critic could nominate 10 films, resulting in a total of 599, from which a list was drawn up final.

The winner was “Mulholland Drive” , directed by American David Lynch, four-time Academy Award nominee.

The film, released in 2001, grossed only $ 5 more than what it cost to make (US $ 15 million) but conquered the critics million.

“It is a dream of sex, suicide and ‘silence’. It is also USA, the beautiful and the bizarre, his romanticism, dysfunction, cruelty and absurd,” said criticism Kim Morgan told the BBC.

Contrary to what one might think, only two Oscar winners in the category of best film entered the top 100 .

These are “no Country for Old Men” (no place for wimps) ranked 10th and “12 years a slave” in 44.
