Review of Star Trek: Beyond – IGN Spain

IMPORTANT: This review contains NO SPOILERS

The great secrecy Paramount to his new flagship franchise ( star Trek ) could not be hidden and soon everyone knew, by clips, images and details that the star signing of the new film about the Enterprise included actor Idris Elba.

Shortly after it was learned that in addition would Krall, a villain created specifically for this saga and promised to put in serious complications to the usual protagonists (who enliven Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana, Simon Pegg, Karl Urban or ill-fated Anton Yelchin , among others).

Cuando JJ Abrams relaunched Star Trek as a new modern product in 2009 achieved a good accommodation in its proposal and also added a key sequel ( Star Trek: In the dark ) that made the sometimes entertaining then without much fanfare guionísticos. This sequel was Benedict Cumberbatch your villain Khan, already known by the usual Trekkies in the movies that had been made in the past.

So this Star Trek : Beyond needed new blood. Abrams seemed to be busier than usual and the production work was saved while he passed the baton in the direction Lin Justin (famous for his films of the saga Fast and Furious 4, 5 and 6 ). For now, the first third exchange impact is noticeable when directing. The third film is still aesthetically very similar to the two that Abrams made but there are technical modifications to appreciate where Lin prints his personal seal.

Por that here there are many more action sequences frantic , many more moments of visual agility and little rest flat, with some vacuous dialogues in the form of humor that are delivered to the ingenuity of Pegg . Abrams is not that out Truffaut and Bergman but pausaba more sequences and espaciaba more cuts between the two takes, being less abrupt.

The story of this third film, of course, is also different . This is very attractive to raise the initial idea, as was originally the first films, the crew is dedicated to travel to other planets through space. What looks like a mode of inquiry and discovery becomes a curious approach to the unknown. Thus, the adventures are soon to arrive.

Lo Downside is that although the division of main equipment on a distant planet starts well, forming several parallel to the central subplots, there are few characters who end up filling the film with claw. One is again Spock, who Zachary Quinto has been able to take the measure and does with his companion in much of the footage, Dr. Leonard McCoy that interprets Karl Urban. In the case of Pegg and the young Sofia Boutella also work together in their first appearances together.

Although not all the characters it get, apart from the story in that jungle half the planet fades away around the second section of tape, leading to a somewhat crazy, fast and strange ending. Attempting to enhance the romantic side of some couples is not as successful (Saldana and Quinto).

La third of this reboot is not as successful as the two Abrams (who were much more noticeable) although it maintains entertainment, tributes to the original saga and good action sequences. In addition, there is an amazing character who gives us for the future: a great feminine profile that gives life Sofia Boutella and responds to the name Jaylah. What Idris Elba as Krall, many may be wondering, though as villain scary enough, it resolves a somewhat archaic and hasty way.

Leonard Nimoy again the most honored player in the saga and in this case is dedicated to his memory the film. We assume that in the future the next tape will also be dedicated (sure that there will be) the recently deceased Anton Yelchin. If directed Justin Lin or Abrams himself again take over the franchise will be discovered later

BEST:. The addition of a new character to group called Jaylah (Sofia Boutella) which gives freshness and gives greater female role in the Enterprise

tHE WORST THING:. is below the two previous installments (both directed by Abrams ), with which it will inevitably be compared to being part of a common entity. The assembly is somewhat chaotic and final accelerated.

And do not miss …
