PARIS. The film “Café Society”, US director Woody Allen, will open next May 11 the 69th edition of the Cannes Film Festival, organizers of the film festival.
The screening of the film at the Grand Théâtre Lumière of the Palais des Festivals, in official selection out of competition, is a milestone for the New York filmmaker, who already opened the Festival Cannes in 2002 with Hollywood Ending , and in 2011 with Midnight in Paris .

The new Allen film recounts ” the story of a young man who comes to Hollywood in the 1930s in the hope of working in the film industry, falls in love and is immersed in the excitement “of that era, summarized in a statement the organizers of the festival.
The cast includes Kristen Stewart and Jesse Eisenberg as protagonists, acting together with Steve Carell , Parker Posey and Blake Lively under the watchful eye of cinematographer Vittorio Storaro, three times Oscar winner: in 1980 by Apocalypse Now Francis Ford Coppola ; in 1982 by Reds Warren Beatty ; and in 1988 by The Last Emperor Bernardo Bertolucci .
The new film Allen has been produced by Letty Aronson (Gravier Productions), Stephen Tenenbaum and Edward Walson with Helen Robin (Lost Productions).
