Oasis is one of the few rock superbandas appearing to leave a unique imprint on the world music map. Led by the brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher, the musical project was born in the city of Manchester in 1991 and appeared with pretensions off limits, like the idea of becoming as big as The Beatles.
Liam took the first step along with guitarist Paul Arthurs, bassist Paul McGuigan and drummer Tony McCarroll, until the winning formula was completed with the inclusion of Noel as composer and lead guitarist. With over 80 million album sold and several records, they became the most successful band from England of his time, but the group also was characterized as one of the most controversial because of the constant bickering brothers.
The end of Oasis came in 2009, when before a performance at the festival Rock en Seine, just outside Paris, a dispute occurred between the Gallagher which caused the cancellation of the presentation of the group and Noel’s phrase: “Oasis no longer exists”.
Since then, fans around the world await the return. Over the years, Liam and Noel seem more comfortable with their differences, but not enough for a reunion of the group. Of course, both have put their conditions to occur. In 2013, Liam said he would return for money, about 45 million. “This is not a fucking game … This is big business,” he said.
But this year was Noel that he touched the issue of money: Nobody has made us an offer … But if you were to do so, it would be for the money, “he said
This week resurfaced a possibility and it seems that everything is in the hands of Paul McCartney. “Tell (McCartney) that if he writes a song for our return, I do,” were the words of Noel this time.
