Die Chris Squire of Yes legendary bassist – Daily Mail

Chris Squire, bassist and one of the founders of the British band Yes, has died at age 67, announced the group as a Facebook page.

“With the utmost sadness and sorrow of heart we must report the death of our dear friend and co-founder of Yes, Chris Squire, “said the progressive rock band in the note.

It was the keyboardist ensemble, Geoff Downes, the first of his peers to react to the news via Twitter.

“Totally devastated without words to convey the sad news of the death of my dear friend, colleague and inspiration, Chris Squire”, published Downes.

Squire, who died Saturday, was the only band member who participated in all the albums of study.

The bassist had revealed just last month that she had a case rare leukemia.

In its statement, the band said that Chris was a “key part” that kept attached to their members.

The musicians also highlighted the role as Squire as lyricist because “he wrote some of the most memorable songs of Yes”.

“Chris will was not only a friend, he was part of our family and always will want, and we will miss him,” they said.

The rock band Yes was born in 1968 when the singer Jon Anderson met Squire in London, and the debut album Yes, titled “sweetnes”, went on sale in 1969.

Followed others, which reached number one, as “Fragile” (1971), “Close To The Edge” (1972) and “Going For The One” (1977).
