Chris Squire, Yes bass player and founder, died at age 67 – Trade

Chris Squire , bassist and co-founder of the legendary rock band Yes , has died at age 67 of leukemia victim. This was reported by his companions in a statement posted on Facebook of the group.

Squire announced last month that he suffered from a form of leukemia. Was being treated shortly before his death.

“With great sorrow and an unbearable sadness we inform you of the passing of our dear friend and co-founder of Yes, Chris Squire,” said the statement Alan White, Steve Howe , Geoff Downes and Jon Davison.

Squire was born on March 4, 1948 in London. He co-founded the band with his former lead singer Jon Anderson and the group produced their first album in 1969. Squire was the only member who appeared in all the albums of Yes.

“Throughout the existence of Yes, Chris was the focus of the band and the bond that held together over the years, “the statement added. “Because of his remarkable achievements as a performer on guitar record, Chris influenced countless bassists worldwide, including many well-known contemporary artists.”

Squire, talented musician, was one of leaders of progressive rock in the 1970s its website indicates that he acted in a choir as a child.

He produced his solo debut “ Fish Out of Water ” in 1975 and he also played in the XYZ short supergroup that included Jimmy Page

Yes presented the album “ Heaven & amp; Earth .” last year. Grammy winners successes of the band include “Roundabout” and “Owner of a Lonely Heart” which took first place in Billboard in 1980 The group will tour the United States with Toto in August, in which Billy Sherwood replace Squire.

A Squire Scotland survived by his wife and several children.
