The Economic Culture Fund ( FCE ) congratulated the Cuban writer and screenwriter Leonardo Padura to get the Princess of Asturias Award for Literature 2015 , the which he described as “a victory for Cuban literature” .
In a statement, the CFE said Padura (Havana, 1955) is a Cuban writer most internationally for his series of detective novels starring detective “Mario Conde” . While this publishing house published his book A path half a century. Alejo Carpentier and the marvelous real narrative (2002) .
For the jury, the vast work of Padura through all genres of prose and emphasizes a resource that will characterize his literary interest as popular voices and listen to the stories of other lost.
The Princess of Asturias Awards, created in 1981, are equipped with the reproduction of a sculpture designed by Joan Miró, 50 000 euros in cash, a diploma and an insignia.
Among the authors of the FCE to have earned this recognition are María Zambrano, Juan Rulfo, Silvio Zavala, Carlos Fuentes, Mario Vargas Llosa, Augusto Monterroso, Zygmunt Bauman and Alvaro Mutis, to name a few.
Last year, the award went to the Irish writer John Banville, in 2013 was for the Spanish Antonio Muñoz Molina and, in 2012, to the American novelist Philip Roth.
