The novelist Cuban Leonardo Padura, known for his series of detective novels starring detective Mario Conde, was awarded today with the Princess of Asturias Award for Literature 2015 who chose twenty candidates from seventeen countries.
 


 Padura (Havana, 1955), Cuban writer considered the most internationally renowned and has Spanish nationality since 2011, won the final votes of the jury Japanese novelist Haruki Murakami and Syrian poet Adonis.
 


 


 The award, which last year went to the Irish writer John Banville, was granted in recent years the Spanish Antonio Munoz Molina (2013), American novelist Philip Roth (2012) and the Canadian poet and singer Leonard Cohen.
