Kirill Petrenko will be the next director of the Berlin Philharmonic – NTR Zacatecas .com

They also sounded names like Christian Thielemann, the Staatskapelle Dresden, the Andris Nelsons, the Boston Symphony Orchestra or the director of the Berlin State Opera Daniel Barenboim and the leader of the Los Angeles Philharmonic Gustavo Dudamel.

Today, Petrenko is managing director of the State Opera in Munich and is considered as a heavy weight of the art world of his generation, noted for its sensitivity.

Kirill Petrenko was born in 1972 in Omsk, Russia, where he learned to play the piano. It comes from a musical family: his father is a violinist and musicologist mother. In 1990 he moved with his family to Vorarlberg, Austria, and later studied conducting at the University of Music in Vienna.

After harvesting their first successes in opera Meiningen, Petrenko finally landed in 2002 in Berlin, where he worked as music director of the Komische Oper Berlin.

In Berlin, Kirill Petrenko managed to carve out a reputation in the arts and became a figure in the world of culture.

In the five years he spent in front of the Opera Comique, was revealed as a hardworking, brave and incorruptible person musically. Along with director Calixto Bieito produced “The Abduction from the Seraglio” by Mozart, which was very controversial.

In 2007 he finished his time in the German capital, Petrenko was elected three times as the conductor the year and their “home” in Munich was named in 2014 as “Opera of the Year”.

The choice of the new chief conductor of the Berlin Philharmonic created a great expectation worldwide last May when 123 orchestra members were meeting for 11 hours without being able to reach an agreement.

On that occasion stressed that how to choose the director remembered the tradition that follows the Vatican to choose the Pope.

After the failed election, the Philharmonic still had a year to elect its leader and was not expected that the orchestra a verdict on this in the short term. The decision fell by surprise in the cultural field, he hoped that a second vote will occur in September.

The Berlin Philharmonic has numerous international awards and is considered one of the best orchestras in the world. It was founded in 1882 and its director is elected by the members who compose it.

Since 2002, his command is Sir Simon Rattle as conductor. Among his predecessors are, among others, the Italian Claudio Abbado and the Austrian Herbert von Karajan, who led the orchestra from 1989 to 2002 and between 1954 and 1989, respectively.
