Netflix come to Spain in October – The Economist

Netflix will start operating in Spain in October, although the date has not yet been established nor rates.

The US video service Netflix online, now available in Latin America and most major European countries, will start operating in Spain in October, said its president Reed Hastings said in an interview published Thursday.

This platform, in addition to disseminating audiovisual content has also produced shows like “House of Cards” and “Orange Is the New Black” will arrive in Spain a year behind other European countries like France, Germany or Belgium and four years after landing in Latin America.

“We come to a new country means making a major investment in content and license when not even have a subscriber” argued about its president and founder Reed Hastings in an interview with Spanish newspaper El Mundo.

The release date is not yet established nor rates although “it will be very similar” to those of other European countries, about 8 euros, said the president.

Netflix expects Spain to be” one of our country’s success, “Hastings said if I look worried by the high index online content piracy in the country.

“There is a population with a high rate of connection, which is accustomed to the use of electronic commerce and that has shown signs of being interested in our product. You are very optimistic, “he said.

The US group expects to be present in every country in the world by the end of 2016. It currently operates across America and much of Western Europe, has just moved to Cuba, Australia and New Zealand and in the fall it will also make in Japan.
