‘Numancia’ Symphony Soria – The País.com (Spain)

Soria tercia in the debate about what sound the cities with the premiere last Saturday Numancia first symphony Vicent J. Egea, who opened with a spectacular success the 22nd Fall Musical Soriano. The piece can be heard today in the Palau de la Música in Valencia.

Numancia Soria is the great-grandmother, as it somehow. There has also been much experience in this symphony of what we know in everyday speech with “adamant”. Input, has taken the risk of opening the festival with a new work of creation, with all that this implies. The Lira Numantina orchestra, made up of 85 young musicians, mostly between 15 and 30 years and about half of the Conservatory of Soria, has put the rest in an exercise of wonderful delivery without charging a euro for the effort. In the same spirit has manifested the young soriano Director 28 Carlos Garcés, bringing the work of memory with a rhythmic mastery and nothing frequent constructive domain age.

The whole process has played a prominent role Alfredo Gimeno, a professor and director of field Complutense de Numancia, which clearly described the coordinates that places music Egea. On the eve tetralmente illustrated the process in the Plaza Mayor Tierra Quemada Garray group closest to Numancia village.

The symphony, 42 minutes, is divided into three movements, which focus on three chapters two decades known of the history of Numancia. It is eclectic, with more tonal prominence dodecafónico, and she battles or heroic gestures at the same time sounds or feelings of honor and freedom are evoked recreate. The descriptive tone suggests certain film coordinates, and development refers at times the style of a composer like John Corigliano. The recurrence leitmotifs familiarity allows a listener who is seduced by native or similar instruments, such as the fallopian ceramics, carrasclás or alto flute as an evocation of the bone flute. Carefully prepared and tuned percussion balance between mystery and narrative. The symphony has voltage and lived like a sigh, having to repeat the final part to the cheers of the audience, which filled the Palace of Hearing.
