Denzel Washington opens the Film Festival San Sebastian – The Provinces

The actor Denzel Washington opens this Friday with his latest film, ‘The Equalizer’, the International Film Festival of San Sebastian, where he will receive an honorary award Donostia his entire career.

The film, directed by Antoine Fuqua, out of competition, opens the official section of the San Sebastian festival in which 17 films from eleven countries will compete for the Golden Shell, the highest honor of the festival.

Washington, 59 years and won an Oscar for Best Actor in 2001 for his role as a corrupt cop in ‘Training Day’, is scheduled to arrive throughout the morning to San Sebastian, where the afternoon will give a press conference.

The Most

The interpreter of films like ‘Malcolm X’ and ‘Hurricane’ will be honored at the gala festival’s opening night on Friday, with the delivery of Donostia Award, which this year will also receive the American actor of Puerto Rican descent, Benicio del Toro.

In ‘The Equalizer’, based on an ancient series of the 80s, Washington plays a former secret agent helps a young woman, played by actress Chloë Grace Moretz, under the control of some Russian mobsters.

Nine Days movie

The film kicks output to nine days when the film will be the king in San Sebastian, in the presence of figures like Antonio Banderas or American John Malkovich and Willem Dafoe among others.

In addition to the official section, the fair , which will close on the 27th, has several parallel sections as ‘Horizontes Latinos’, in which 14 films from Brazil, Colombia, Argentina, Mexico and Chile will compete for the ‘Horizons’ award. Last year, the award went to the Brazilian film “O wolf behind da porta ‘Fernando Coimbra.
