Almagro Festival 2016 will have to Cervantes protagonist – Terra Mexico

The 39th edition of the International Classical Theatre Festival of Almagro (Spain) will from tomorrow to Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra featured in the 400th anniversary of his death.

The event from 7 to 31 July in the town of Ciudad Real, Castilla La Mancha, add 101 performances by 52 companies, 42 Spanish and 10 other United Kingdom, Italy, Poland, Mexico, Uruguay, Portugal, Brazil, France, Greece and India, which is this year’s guest of honor.

The festival in Almagro (200km south of Madrid) 52 shows will be presented in total (17 of them premieres five co-productions and two collaborations) to recover, and in many cases reinvent, the legacy of the Baroque.

The program, which will run in 17 different spaces complete with exhibitions, concerts, conferences, meetings and workshops for both adults and children.

The programming dedicated to Cervantes include 23 performances, with 37 performances in total, six exhibitions, photographic exhibitions, audiovisual, dance, music, comics, urban art and illustration.

In this section, highlighted in the official section of the premiere of one of his lesser-known texts: “Pedro Urdemales” directed by Denis Rafter and represented by the National Youth Company Classical Theatre (JCNTC).

The National Dance Company will present “Don Quixote Suite,” choreographed by Jose Carlos Martinez; also “Written in the Stars” by Emilio Gutiérrez Caba, based on “The liberal lover,” “The Cervantes women” by Jose Ramon Fernandez and Inma Chacon.

“The Siege of Numancia” for the company extremeña Word productions; “Mysteries of Don Quixote” by El Brujo; “Rinconetey Cortadillo” directed by Salva Bolta; “The conquest of Jerusalem,” among others.

William Shakespeare, is also starring in the 39th edition of the Festival of Almagro, with 14 shows as the work of Steven Berkoff “Shakespeare’s Villains”, or assembly “What with Quique Quinto ? “Andres Carreno Mexico.

The festival starts with the delivery of the sixth Corral Comedy award to Spanish actress Concha Velasco, for a lifetime of dedication and commitment to the theater.
