the next release of the film ‘Jason Bourne’, this July 28 , -in specialist who plays Heather Lee allowed us to converse with her in Las Vegas.
Bourne films have always had very strong female characters. What is the difference between Heather Lee and former wives of the saga?
The character is a symbol of all the changes that have occurred in the world as a specialist from last four films. Actually, she works at the CIA as Joan Allen’s character did before. Probably someone with his profile did not exist ten years ago. She is part of a new generation of CIA officers with technological knowledge.
One thing that distinguishes the Bourne movies is the amount of talent that brings. ‘Jason Bourne’ is a great director, Paul Greengrass, and great actors like Matt Damon, Vincet Cassel and Tommy Lee Jones. Was it important to know that would work with them to join this film?
I think people around is the main tool for any project. The story and characters are important but will always be in the hands of the director. As mentioned, Paul Greengrass is a great director. It has been able to make films of drama, action and documentary with incredible results, but I’m also a big fan of the Bourne franchise, was a teenager when I saw the first movie, I have seen many times, so it was amazing to join this cast.
This year you won an Oscar for ‘the Danish girl’ and with that change there is always a before and after in the career of anyone. What has been the biggest change for you?
I believe that you are you, life is very different. Things happened in the overnight. That night was the most surreal and beautiful night in a peculiar way, always remember. However, the reality is that after two days off, I traveled and went to film ‘Jason Bourne’. Then, I had planned since last year that would make a film with Win Winders and continue. Moreover, I will return in a week to finish this film. I just went back to work, that it is also about winning these awards, passion for making movies.
Michael Fassbender and you are a great couple. Both had a great year: were nominated for an Oscar, you won, they made a film together: ‘The Light Between Oceans’ which will be released soon, and they make movies about video games, you will do’ Tomb Raider ‘, he completed’ Assassin’s Creed “… what do you think of all these coincidences? I do not know if you call them …
I do not know if there is a match. We are both excited about the premiere of ‘The Light Between Oceans’ in September in the US. Now I’m doing this press conference, I will continue in New York and when there will have only one day of rest after finishing ‘Jason Bourne’. Then I begin to promote ‘The Light Between Oceans’ and we are very excited that the film finally is released.
You’re a great actress but now also are a big name in the industry. Does it affect your work expectation generated by each thing you do?
I think starting any project is always stressful, I have high expectations for myself, who was at the ballet school and is part of my training, sometimes I think that maybe I’m the worst. But it is good to still keep the courage, hope is something that will never disappear, because the daring to experience new things or, in our case, trying to tell a story or create a character do something valuable is not to repeat or redo something just because it works or what you’ve done before. ❧
