Dies ‘Lemmy’ Kilmister Motörhead and dies with him – FORTUNE

(Agencies) – Ian Lemmy Kilmister, lead singer and songwriter for the heavy metal band Motörhead, died at age 70 in Los Angeles, California, shortly after being diagnosed with an aggressive form of throat cancer, the group said on its Facebook page.

The bandmate applauded the courage of a man who kept singing and playing while suffering from cancer, the disease that was diagnosed on Saturday, two days after his 70th birthday and two before his death.

Gene Simmons, lead singer of the American band Kiss, asked Lemmy a desire to “do shake the sky, my friend.”

The bassist for the band Guns N ‘Roses, Duff McKagan said: “. An incredible man who could not stand nonsense will miss you, brother.”
