Egypt opened the tomb of Tutankhamen’s nurse – Online Time

While archeology enthusiasts are eagerly awaiting the results of the scan of the tomb of Pharaoh Tutankhamun, which might reveal the existence of a secret camera, Egypt recently opened the grave the love child rearing Pharaoh, known as Maya. According to Minister of Antiquities, Mahmud al-Damaty, there are many indications to suggest that Maya, the woman who nursed the famous monarch, is really his sister try Meritaten.

This is the last opening of a long string held in recent months aimed at relaunching the battered Egyptian tourism sector, seriously damaged by the instability afflicting the country.

The tomb, which was discovered in 1996, is located in the necropolis of Saqqara, about 25 kilometers from Cairo. The burial chamber, dug in clay rock, it bears on four pillars and has many hieroglyphics on its walls. According to a press release of the official Egyptian news agency MENA, the tomb was used during the Greco-Roman period as a cemetery for pets, because remains of several cats, including, probably, a lion found. The tomb has undergone a long process of cleaning and restoration of 19 years.

To support the theory that the tomb belongs to Meritaten, one of the sisters of Tutankhamen, the Ministry of Antiquities at the opening resorted to the interpretation of a scene dug in one of the walls of the tomb. In it, the funeral of another sister of the child, Meketaten, Pharaoh which holds Meritaten and breastfeed a baby is thought to be Tutankhamun, according to a press release posted on his Facebook page is represented. The minister stressed that al-Damaty the title foster love – “the largest harem” – is too high to be a mere servant

Royal Throne

. French Egyptologist Alain Zivie, head of the team that discovered the tomb coincides with the analysis of the Egyptian authorities. Speaking to Agence France Presse, Zivie says he loves parenting must be the princess Meritaten because it is sitting on a throne, a privilege reserved for members of the ruling dynasty privilege. He also stressed that you can see a same facial features between Tutankhamun and his love of breeding, as the same eyes and chin. However, this theory does not raise a broad consensus among Egyptologists, as some suggest that it is very rare that a princess exercise mothership.

The tomb of Tutankhamen, as befits the Pharaohs of more than 3000 years, is located in the magnificent Valley of the Kings, located in the city of Luxor, about 450 kilometers south of Cairo. The monument of the boy king, who died unexpectedly as a teenager, amazed the world by being discovered by Howard Carter in 1922. Unlike other tombs looted by bandits and buscatesoros, its various chambers were intact and included a trousseau over 5,000 objects.

However, the grave could still hide new archaeological jewels. The famous British Egyptologist Nicholas Reeves last summer presented a theory according to which the monument of the pharaoh could hide a secret camera, probably that of the legendary Queen Nefertiti. The Egyptian government together with a team of Japanese experts carried out an analysis last month scanners tomb suggesting a 90% certainty that Reeves was right. Currently being examined carefully tested and is expected to announce in the coming weeks to solve a puzzle that keeps the community of Egyptologists in suspense
