How to catch up with the Star Wars saga before the premiere of The Force Awakens – Gizmodo in Spanish

C & # XF3; catch mo d & # XED; to the saga Star Wars before the premiere of The Force Awakens

The seventh (seventh!) film Star Wars opens this week. If you’re feeling a bit overwhelmed with everything surrounding the event, do not worry: here you have the perfect guide to catch up with all the saga before the arrival of this latest installment

What movie should I see?

There are 6 films in the saga of Star Wars so far, and not surprisingly, some see them all will seem too important commitment. Especially when a majority of people have spent the last decade criticizing three of them.

We do not know yet what will be “ required” to understand the history of The Force Awakens . In fact, it is perfectly possible that not even need to see any of the old movies to understand the new. So if the thought of a marathon 6 hours with Star Wars you are too lazy, quiet, you can skip them.

That said, it is clear that The Force Awakens inevitably collect a lot of material from the original trilogy 70 and 80, also known as episodes 4, 5 and 6 as its argument occurs after of the events that occur in these movies and much of those characters will return. So if you want to have “nostalgia orgasms” when Han Solo returns to the screen, the three original films are key. Note, please, that the films, being old, go at a slower pace than in the current film tapes so do not get discouraged if you notice that no explosions and surprises from the first half hour of film.

So what does the latest trilogy, which contains episodes 1 to 3? See them depends entirely on you. I’m going to stay away from making any kind of judgment on their quality, because they are prequels, and as such, less important to the current history. The original trilogy was designed to be told without much knowledge of these prequels, so they are rather elements that build and shape the universe of the original. Explained the nature of the Jedi, the political circumstances that led to the creation of the empire, and how Darth Vader became Darth Vader (there is a love story in between too). If you really want to understand all Star Wars , you should see that, but it is unlikely to be necessary to understand The Force Awakens.

What version should see?

Every time you re-released Star Wars (in cinemas, DVD or Blu-Ray) They make changes to the films. The current version contains an extra CGI, a deleted scene or two and even a change that alters the story Han Solo. You may have heard the heated debate about the Blu-Ray versions stink, how the first film version of the legendary film is timeless, and so on. What version should see?

If none of this matters to you, choose the version in Blu-Ray. If you have a Blu-Ray DVD version is also good. It is likewise available on iTunes, Amazon and Google Play. Most of the largest and most controversial changes were made in the new edition of 1997, which implies that there is no way to see the original versions with a minimum quality.

If, however, you are someone with more advanced, and want to see the original unchanged from Star Wars should go without doubt the knowledge desespecializada version. It is a reconstruction, made by fans of the original trilogy in all its glory, without altering and high definition. It’s the best version of Star Wars you can see, although it costs to find a little.

Since this is an unofficial edition made by fans, the legality of same is in a very gray area, and it is not easy to find. Must pass through a relatively long process to download them directly from its creator, or through search engines Torrents with the term “ Despecialized Edition”. Probably not rejoice over you for taking the trouble.

In the same vein, here are re-editions of the prequels if you want to save time seeing them.

What order You should see them

If you choose to see all six films, you have another important question to resolve: see the original first trilogy, then see the prequels (Episodes 4, 5 and 6 and then 1, 2 and 3) that is the order of release or view them chronologically, with the prequels ahead of the original trilogy (Episodes 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6). Here are all options:

  • Option 1, in chronological order: If you’re a fan of Star Wars , and you’ve seen the movies more one or two times, feel totally free to see them in the order you want. George Lucas said he wanted the people saw them in the original order (1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6) and if you are already familiar with the story, is the perfect way to see how this develops.
  • Option 2, order of release: If you’re new to Star Wars , or if you have not seen in a while, I do not recommend option 1. original trilogy is a much better introduction to the series, even if you’ve seen glancing once or twice. If you’ve never seen Star Wars , there are some plot twists that reveal the aftermath, so see the original first and then the rest (4, 5, 6, 1, 2 and 3).
  • Option 3, the Machete order: There is a third and final option, available for both people who have seen to people not known as the Order Machete. Popularized by blogger Rod Hilton, Machete order involves seeing the original Star Wars and The Empire Strikes Back, then watch the rest to finish with Return of the Jedi (ie: 4, 5, 1, 2, 3 and 6). This option brings you into the universe through the original trilogy, but is cut off just before the cliffhanger The Empire Strikes Back, point where you do “ flashback “a prequel to look like Darth Vader and Darth Vader was eventually end up going back to the last chapter available from the original trilogy with a sweet and well resolved ending.

If we technical, Rod argues that in order Machete should skip full episode 1 (4, 5, 2, 3 and 6) and also makes a good point. I have included in the top option to avoid confusion, but it depends on you if you want him or not. If you really like Star Wars , read Rod’s blog to find out better. It is quite interesting, and a good attempt to get the best from each of the first two options.

Other stories of Star Wars worth seeing

If you like the series so that the six films are not enough for you, there is a good collection of material Star Wars that takes place between the films. The television series The Clone Wars , for example, recounts the events between Episode 2 and 3, and Rebels takes place between 3 and 4. There are also some books, comics and short stories called Journey to the Force Awakens that take place before the last one opens now. You can see a complete list of “canonical” histories of the universe Star Wars here. However, none of them is really necessary to enjoy Star Wars:. The Force Awakens, simply adds detail to the story for real fans

If you are too lazy this

If all this seems too bored and (in fact I’m surprised you’ve got here), simply see this video above. Or this one here, more serious and descriptive, if you have more time.
