What says the criticism of ‘Star Wars: The Awakening of force – FORTUNE

(CNN) – After initial favorable reactions on Twitter, the reviews of film critics seem to confirm the overwhelmingly positive response to Star Wars: The Awakening force .

The film currently has a rating of 97% “fresh” on Rotten Tomatoes review site and so far only two have posted negative reviews critics.

Chris Nashawaty, Entertainment Weekly , said the film was “wrapped in a fun adventure epic mythology” while Ann Hornaday, the American newspaper The Washington Post , said “ The awakening of force all the right touches, emotional and narrative fiber, plus it feels known and refreshingly new.”

Much of the praise were directed to JJ Abrams, producer, director and screenwriter who was largely responsible for returning to give impetus to the series.

Robie Collin, the British newspaper The Telegraph , said that “JJ Abrams movie prepares to take a Star Wars from its lethargy and Series reconnect with his past so longed for. He who achieves it immediately and cheerfully is probably the greatest film year of relief. ”

On the other hand, Nashawathy wrote that “[Abrams] took a series praised in pop culture that has a legion of passionate disciples, he treated her with respect and give importance him again.”

Kate Muir, the British newspaper The London Times , agreed, noting that “even George Lucas had the bright idea, Abrams is best action director and leads to Star Wars, The Awakening of force a more sophisticated territory. ”

Much has he written about the varied cast of The awakening of force and Manohla Dargis, the newspaper The New York Times , was quick to point Abrams, fond of Star Wars long ago, was the perfect choice to bring the series to the XXI century:

“Mr. Abrams can be as respectable as anyone obsessed with Star Wars , but The awakening of force , made a film that seeks a distraction in the old style but with a futuristic vision of a pluralistic world in which their public lives already. He made a tape exclusively for true believers, but made a tape for all. “

Criticism quickly detected similarities with the original trilogy, but apparently mattered little and everyone agrees it’s an experience pleasing to the fans.

Jen Yamato, the site The Daily Beast , argued that “this is a sequel that was written clearly fans who tremble with every parliament reference, with every reference to the past and even just seeing a few familiar characters who returned just because. ”

In an article for the journal Variety , Justin Chang risked the ire of fans to compare the sequel to Star Wars with the version Abrams Star Trek

“At the risk of sounding heretical, it is worth noting that Abrams made a more intelligent and creative work in the version of Star Trek , 2009, no doubt in part because he was working in a sheltered job with less suspicion. Star Wars , which was once a cultural giant and a sacrosanct institution, resists any attempt to reinterpret landscape aggressively or imaginatively; that could harm this first attempt to turn the tide, but Abrams has awakened our anticipation of what his successors might have up his sleeve. “

In general, criticism was busy extolling the virtues of the tape while trying to reveal as little as possible.

The awakening of force gets it. Captures what makes Star Wars is Star Wars , “wrote Ali Plump at Digital Spy , while Joe Morgenstern, the Wall Street Journal was even more direct: “Just watch it. You’ll love “.

If you were undecided, maybe this is the time to buy your tickets.
