ROME, Italy.- Tourists in ancient Pompeii are newly restored to admire wonders, including a lavishly decorated house of a merchant and a more modest housing middle class.

A business where the residents of Pompeii were buying fabrics and a structure with areas of thermal baths is also among the six sites open to the public on Thursday, reports The Associated Press.

In recent years Pompeii has been plagued by labor disputes that will shut the doors to tourism and the collapse of some ruins, amid the chronically underfunded for maintenance.

But the prime minister said Matteo Renzi Optimism in the unveiling of the restored ruins in the city destroyed in 79 by a volcanic eruption.

“We made news with the collapses, we now notice the restoration,” he said.
