Franz Kafka was a writer of Jewish origin born in Bohemia who wrote in German. His work is considered one of the most influential of world literature and is full of themes and archetypes of alienation, physical and psychological brutality, conflict between parents and children, characters in terrifying adventure, labyrinths of bureaucracy, and mystical transformations.

Franz Kafka was the author of three novels, Process , the castle and the disappeared; the novella The Metamorphosis and a number of short stories. He also left an extensive correspondence and autobiographical writings.
