Placido Domingo was honored in Salzburg – The Nacional.com

Few artists can say they take forty years to be a regular at the Salzburg Festival. The Spanish tenor Placido Domingo can not alone, but yesterday received a tribute to the long and productive relationship.

“It’s one of the most important festivals in the world,” he said Sunday before the musical gala with the anniversary was celebrated. “It is a great satisfaction and I am very happy,” he said.

At the concert, for which all tickets were sold, they sang the soprano Maria Agresta, Ana Maria Martinez and Kassimira Stoyanoba; and the Mexican tenor Rolando Villazon, artists who have shared Domingo throughout his career.

“It’s great to sing with four figures of great category, with an extraordinary teacher and an orchestra to celebrate my participation in the festival of the world,” said the tenor.

The Italian Gianandrea Noseda conducted the Radio Orchestra in Munich on an evening which was enjoyed arias and duets by composers such as Giuseppe Verdi and Giacomo Puccini.

“It’s been a very long road that began when my kids were not even 10 years old. And now he has over 40, “said opera singer before an audience that stood up to applaud.
