Fira Tarrega, theater and sovereignty in the street – Publico.es

For the first time in 34 years Fira Tarrega opens with its own production. And for the first time in his long career as as street theater festival ─ya established leader in the national scene and start europea─ their protest coincides with the Day of the story. Coincidence or not, Anger dels peixos is the mounting of the hand of Chilean director, Ignacio Achurra, opened the festival of Lleida city with a song of sovereignty. After being part of the acts of the Catalan national holiday in Barcelona Ciutadella Park, the work co-produced by Fira Tarrega gave the starting signal for four days of theater, dance, circus and music non stop in the street.

Anger dels peixos hit with its mix of live music, dancers class and careful staging, imprint of the Catalan school Fura dels Baus or Comediants. The Chilean company was commissioned to stage the feelings from the massive V arrived by train, bus or simply glued on the red and yellow shirts that much of the public still brought with Friday night. A reflection on how totalitarian states extend their territorial domain and threaten the survival of minority cultures landed in Tárrega, a city that, in line, on display at the town hall balcony of a clock that counts down the days, hours, minutes and seconds missing for consultation November 9 for the independence of Catalonia.

“Our mission is to make available to viewers a catalog of unique experiences”

But beyond politics and history, art for art’s sake, the sake of art. And this is the essence of Fira Tarrega. An entire city turned over the theater, open wide to hundreds of thousands of people walking day and night looking for creations that delight your senses. “Our mission is to make available to viewers a catalog of unique experiences,” said Jordi Duran i Roldós, artistic director of the festival. Over eighty Entertainment distributed in twenty different character spaces ─desde a square to a farm or a factory abandonada─ surprised with proposals covering the most diverse trends and disciplines. That is, in Tarrega, for everyone.

Among the free shows, roving bands of music, puppetry, contemporary dance or break dance inside a giant plastic ball can surprise at every corner. Sidral Brass Band, for example, is an orchestra of thirteen came directly from Penedes vineyards that drunk with their pop classics combined with vertigo rhythms of Balkan musicians. An explosive cocktail of sun noon danced hundreds of people.

To calm pulse, the official program also offers proposals in conventional theaters, where the audience can quietly take a seat and wait, to open the curtain, what conmuevan artists. But, as in any case no longer be a festival of street theater, even more surprises in store traditional spaces. The French artist Claire Ducreux was a good sign that in the scenarios of Urgell the fourth wall does not exist. With his work in dance and visual theater, Refugiée poétique , the master dancer turned into a bum and get to do it- endearing busca- share authentic emotions with the audience, tracing the shortest path between the soul and gesture .

Another jewel of the 34th edition of the festival has been Constructive, a montage of Van Hoestenberghe Collado-i Piero Steiner Foundation, a company that, despite what difficulty pronouncing his name, is based in Pontos, a small town in the Alt Empordà. Two “paddles”, one Spanish and one Italian, have had to emigrate to Geneva for a living. During his years in construction these two enlightened masons began making theatrical conferences in exposing his feelings and philosophical reflections to friends and coworkers. The resulting set of performances is what this weekend has been seen in the rubble of an old abandoned flour factory on the outskirts of the city. Guided by the two wonderful actors, the public has weathered bricks and dust to enter the lucid and sensitive of these two southern European migrants worldwide. “We have a plant suddenly confess the protagonists buildings without shelter below! Airports, the Vatican Are shelter? Then, down”. Of course, people applauded the proposal.

Fira Tarrega co-produced this eleventh year shows

Fira Tarrega this eleventh year co-produced shows, including which contained one left anyone indifferent. The company says that Swedish-born “does not believe in man, but the beast that controls our lives and interior” and so the adventure interact with animals in public and remain free throws. The ring of a horse has become the scene of a delirious montage that fascinates both for his acrobatic adventures as the power of his images. A man reading to a horse two women but desnudas- apron kitchen preparing a stew barbies or concert pianist giving up a mechanical bull can give insight into the surreal world that Swedes taken by bus to a small quota viewers.

Each night, the culmination of long hours, art ─cervecita, snack, churros with chocolate─ and more art, a concert of more than two hours one of the bands that best represents the soul of Catalan rumba, kung-fu Troba. ─ex singer Joan Garriga Dusminguet─ leader in the crowded auditorium mobilized again the sensitivity of a people who, no matter where you go, these days carries the fervor for its culture.
