“Loving Vincent,” the documentary that gives life to the paintings of Van Gogh – Diario Uno

In one of his last letters, the artist Vincent van Gogh wrote: “The truth is that we can only talk about us through our paintings”. It has been over a century since then, and today a group of filmmakers, artists and fans of Van Gogh have decided to take the word quite literally.

The biopic entitled Loving Vincent (Loving Vincent ) is an approach to the tumultuous life of the artist and the events leading to his death. Each frame of the film is an oil painting made with the same technique he used the artist. The trailer above shows how impressive it is to see those pictures come to life.

The film, directed by Polish artist Dorota Kobiela and director Hugh Welchman, is made from images and characters that Van Gogh reproduced during his life-the starry nights, snow-covered fields, absinthe drinkers, postmen …-

the story includes about 120 iconic paintings by Van Gogh, brought to life by a laborious work of animation. The argument have been hatched from 800 letters written by the artist himself.
