The Beatles: Lennon’s guitar auctioned for $ 2 million – RPP News

A guitar stolen from John Lennon in 1963, and used to record hits of The Beatles as “PS I Love You “and” Love Me Do, “was auctioned in Los Angeles for $ 2.4 million, reported the auction house Julien’s Auctions.

The instrument, an acoustic guitar Gibson J-160E, 1962 , had been touted as “the most important Beatle guitar have come to auction”.

According to the press release of Julien’s Auctions, based in Beverly Hills (USA), guitar was stolen after a concert by the British band in London in 1963 and was unaccounted for over 50 years.

The instrument was identified last year when its owner noticed similarities between the acoustic guitar and a shown in an article on the private collection of other “Beatle” George Harrison.

Half the money from the auction will go to the Spirit Foundation, a charity set up by Lennon and his widow Yoko Ono.
