Sitges Film Festival 2014: ‘I Origins’ wins award for best film – Screenrush

The prize list of this edition also mentions ‘The Babadook’ and ‘Cub’.

The science fiction movie with a message ‘new age’ I Origins of British director Mike Cahill has won the award for best film Festival of Sitges 2014 Australian film The Babadook has earned the special jury award and filmmaker Jonas Govaerts has won the award for best director for the film Cub .

As already happen at the festival in Cannes, Juliane Moore has won the award for best actress for her role in the film Maps to the Stars , ex aequo with Essie Davis The Babadook . They have also shared the award for Best Actor Nathan Phillips These Finals Hours , Zak Hilditch and Koji Yakusho by The World of Kanako .

We also saw the closing film: Burying the Ex Joe Dante. The director, who was present at the festival to present the film (which incidentally was also honored during projection of Gremlins ), returns to the beginning with a comedy of low budget horror. A tape unpretentious with a lot of funny moments, in which a demonic curse because the sticky ex girlfriend protagonist returns from the grave to make life impossible for the protagonist, but it is (played by Anton Yelchin) and has occupied his heart again, for a lovely young woman with blue eyes, who gives life to Alexandra Daddario. And, who would not want to leave with the beautiful star of True Detective
