Fixed penalty to a producer by accident of Harrison Ford – The Universal

The accident that actor Harrison Ford suffered during the filming of “Star Wars: The awakening of the force” it’s going to cost $ 1.9 million to the production company Foodles Production, responsible for the filming in the Uk, the amount of the fine imposed today by a court.

In June of 2014, Ford, who was then 71 years, broke his leg and suffered various injuries when struck by a heavy hydraulic door on the inside of the set that recreated the ship to the Millennium Falcon.

The production company, a subsidiary of the american company Disney, admitted during the trial in the Crown Court in Aylesbury (centre of England) that violated the law of occupational hazards.

A spokesman for the public agency that oversees workplace safety in the United Kingdom (Health and Safety Executive) reported during the trial, the actor was shot down by the metal door with a force comparable to that of a small car and was immobilized in the soil.

In his opinion, judge Francis Sheridan said that the production company should have warned Ford about the dangers faced on the set in which shooting the seventh installment of the saga galactic.

“The biggest error on the part of the company was the lack of communication. If you have drawn up a risk assessment but it will not communicate, what is the purpose of it?”, he argued the magistrate.

“If they had included the mr. Ford in the conversations, at least it could have been alert about the dangers that should be avoided,” he said.

After suffering the accident, the american actor was airlifted to a hospital in Oxford for treatment.
