A comic book to know how to survive the kidnapping – cutting-Edge.com.mx

When Guy Delisle, the cartoonist is canadian, he heard the story of Christophe André about his abduction in the Caucasus, decided to start working with him to be able to bring it to the pages of a comic book.

Known for illustrating the chronicles of his travels to Burma and Jerusalem, Guy Delisle now will tell the story of Christophe André, who in 1997, during a humanitarian mission to the Caucasus, was kidnapped and was held captive for three months.

The cartoonist learned about the event through an article published in the press. It wasn’t until his wife coincided with André in Doctors without Borders who was able to establish a direct contact with him. “I had the opportunity to be with him and ask him some questions, because I was really impressed by the story,” told to EFE, adding that he was the first person outside of his circle more intimate to whom he had this.

The concern of Delisle was not turned off to hear first-hand anecdote, but increased. He proposed to recount it as a comic and Christophe agreed. Organized several interviews during the next year, long conversations where she described the artist to the smallest detail, all this to facilitate the transfer of the story to the paper and be faithful to it.
