9 reasons why Horizon: Zero Dawn has surprised me – IGN Spain

Horizon: Zero Dawn is already about to come exclusively to PlayStation 4, with a desire to awaken the desire of adventure that all jugon keeps in its interior. It is the fruit of the work of several years by the team at Guerrilla Games, responsible for the saga Killzone, now dare to leave the narrow corridors of its first-person action, in pursuit of an experience in the open world that seeks to surprise us on many levels.

We were able to test the game on a touchdown about three hours, being able to see your first moments, but also to check how is the game with the game, something more advanced. This has helped us to increase our desire to play the final game from its launch, on the 1st of march, in exclusive for PS4… Even if we come to the test session with the mood a bit low, after suffering a disappointment with this title during E3 2016. Luckily, Horizon: Zero Dawn has not only solved the ‘holes’ in the approach that we saw in Los Angeles, but has also ended by to convince us of its proposal on the grounds that we hadn’t even raised until now.

1.- A post-apocalypse different

Until now, we have lived in the world after the end of humanity as we know it in a thousand and one different ways, although usually it is worlds gray, brown, or lacking in color. The world of Horizon: Zero Dawn is completely different to all of that, offering us a world full of flora and fauna, with vivid colors and full of movement. Imagine traveling to the land of 1.000 years ago, with lush green meadows, trees, flowers and grasses without end. Imagine that the traverse, wild boars, squirrels and other animals. The birds populate the skies and in the water there is also fish. Now put in the equation to creatures that resemble animals, but which in reality are the scum of mechanics that can get to measure the same as a building. Just missing to change the date of the watch, adelantándola 1,000 years into the future, with humanity back into a stone age coexists with the ruins of the age of the machines. As such, a post-apocalypse different.

2.- There are the usual enemies

we’re used to the enemies humanoids, those who know what they are going to do, but not when they are going to do it. This is precisely why it is all a novelty that the main enemies (not the only) Horizon: Zero Dawn are robotic animals of different types, having each of them their own patterns of behavior, weak points, etc… In fact, make up a curious ecosystem that does nothing to enrich the game world of this title. To all this we can add a wide variety of human opponents and some evolution in the enemies, at least in the first few hours of the game are concerned. That is to say, that we will need to give the best of ourselves to survive in this open world (and proof of this is the vast arsenal that Aloy handles, and that becomes even larger as we advance further in the game).

3.- Aloy

Aloy is not only a female character strong, but it was a femina since the beginning of the development of Horizon: Zero Dawn, as we have confessed a member of the team. Added to this is that everything that surrounds it adds mystery and personality to the character. During the first scenes of the game we know part of its origins and the why of his temperament, the time that raise questions about their personality, end goal and your ancestry. Guerrilla warfare has been successful, with the tone of the narration, and gets us interested in what happens to the lead character of Horizon: Zero Dawn.

4.- The beginning of your trip

We have played two sections of the game, the first began with Aloy as a tender infant, and ended with a test that had to be overcome to be able to unravel one of the mysteries of her past (with spin dash through included). The second part showed us the open world and its possibilities. Both halves of our test, we were particularly interesting, but each for different reasons. In regards to this way of initiation of the adventure of Aloy, we have been surprised to see her as a baby, but also control it as a child. This manages to get even more into character, doing that when you reach your adult age, and full possession of their faculties.
