Perales says that the song is “literature” and looks “perfect” the Nobel peace prize to Dylan – Today Los Angeles

The Spanish singer José Luis Perales told Efe today that the songs are also literature and saw “perfect” that the american Bob Dylan has been recognized with the Nobel in that field, as he has done as an author of a work “sufficiently extensive” to be taken into account.

“If what he wrote is meritorious to grant him the award I think it’s great. I have nothing to object,” said Perales (Castejón, Cuenca, 1945) in a talk in Buenos Aires, where he will present next Saturday in concert his latest album, “Calm”.

Dylan has been awarded the Nobel prize for Literature, in 2016 for “having created a new poetic expression in the great tradition of the american song,” said the jury of the Swedish Academy that awards the prestigious award.

“A song is literature, there is a message, a text… and if that text is sufficiently valid as to aspire to a particular award, I think it’s great. In the end it seems to me that it is perfect that you give it, why not”, remarked the author of hits such as “And how is the”, “A sailboat called freedom” and “por qué te vas”.

At his trial, literature, “is not only for the literati-official” but there are people that is included, as in the case of Dylan, who “has made a work sufficiently extensive as to be taken into account, regardless of whether a musician or not.”

Consulted by the voices that have criticized the choice of the musician for the award, Perales was blunt.

“We really like to criticize. In the background I think that we would like all of us so give it to us isn’t it? I accept perfectly. I think you have to be more open right?” he stressed the Spanish singer.

“And you have to understand that someone who has devoted his life to a music of singer-songwriter, author, text… why not?”, stressed Perales, who after more than 40 years singing and composing recently published his first novel, “The melody of time”” (Plaza & Janes).

however, after selling over 50 million copies of her albums and be the architect of some of the biggest successes as an author of Isabel Pantoja, Rocío Jurado, Mocedades or Julio Iglesias, the singer cannot be seen in a future collecting the award Swedish.

“it Would have to be Bob Dylan…. and I’m not there yet”, he considered.
