Director dies ‘Towering Inferno’ and ‘King Kong’ – Digital Journal Juarez

Los Angeles – British director John Guillermin, known for his films ‘The Towering Inferno’ (1974) and King Kong (1976), died at 89 years, this Sunday, at his home in Topanga Canyon (California), as reported by the family today. The wife of the filmmaker, who suffered a heart attack, confirmed the news on their official Facebook profile, and said her husband was a “sensitive and passionate, full of ferocity” person.

Guillermin had a prolific career since the late 40s as a writer, director and producer of films. Among his works, besides the mentioned above, are Death on the Nole, Shaft in Africa, The Blue Max, PJ and House of Cards.

Guillermin, he went to great actors like Fred Astaire, Charlton Heston and Jessica Lange

also collaborated with Peter Sellers in “Never Let Go” and “Waltz of the Toreadors’. And his production ‘Towering Inferno’, starring Paul Newman, Steve McQueen, William Holden and Faye Dunaway, won Oscars for Best Original Song, Editing and Photography.

In 1972, He directed ‘Skyjacked’, starring Charlton Heston and then filmed one of his best known works, ‘King Kong’, which was produced by Dino De Laurentiis. The cast of the classic featured Jessica Lange, Jeff Bridges and Charles Grodin. In addition, he rolled ‘Tarzan’s Greatest Adventure “(1959), starring Gordon Scott and’ Tarzan Goes to India ‘(1962), this time with Jock Mahoney. In 1984 he returned to the genre of the heroes with Sheena, production where his son, Michael-John was killed in a traffic accident.
