Victoria: Poetry, danger and freedom – maspormas

Victoria is a sequence of 138 minutes, a story that paranoia cause and the nightlife of Berlin plane is a film of German Sebastian Schipper which premiered this weekend.

This movie was filmed in one shot over a period of not more than four hours at dawn in the German capital. cinema at its best

Some people compare it to Birdman, Alejandro G. Iñárritu, by the way make, except that in the Mexican for cuts.

The plot of Victoria? a young Spanish woman (Laia Costa) comes to live in Berlin without knowing anybody, work in a cafeteria where he earns a minimum wage, and during a night meets a boy and his friends, who adopted it in their group until it is convinced to participate in a crime.

“A film in one take, than the ‘think what is’ but actually is one shot. Besides that we never wanted to make a film type ‘me too’, did not want to climb a tree that thousands have uploaded a secure tree! Many of these films want to imitate their idols, mafia movies want to be The Godfather, The Bourne Supremacy, “said the filmmaker.

Schipper wanted to create a sensory experience around. When you start to see the movie you expect to find any mistakes or looking incessantly cut between takes, but can not find, and end up by meddle fully into the plot.

Aldous Huxley in Brave New World speaks not wanting comfort, but poetry, danger, freedom and sin; to the director of that film should be treated “that matter to the room, but often what we get is comfort. Victoria is not sweet, it is poetry, danger, freedom and sin. “

To carry out a script of only 12 pages and a small technical team had. We had to shoot the film and rehearse several times and; however, Schipper explains that most of the dialogue in English and German were improvised, which spread like adrenaline and euphoria.

If Victoria failed to be nominated for an Oscar for Best Foreign Film was precisely because it mixes English and German, but it was the only way to give voice to the exodus of young Spaniards to Germany, and at the same time show that Berlin is not a paradise.
