Cervantes collaboration with Latin America is a “must” way – Terra Colombia

The collaboration of the Cervantes Institute in Latin America “is a safe and forced way” that must continue, said its director, Victor Garcia de la Concha, in a meeting with the press prior to the Board meeting, chaired by the Kings of Spain.

The iberoamericanización the Institute has been the main aim of the Cervantes Institute in this term, not only “for reasons of synergy” but “before and above all because the Latin American community is because it shares the Spanish “.

The rationale of its centers is “politically capitalize on what the Spanish and culture in Spanish,” said Garcia de la Concha.

The director and the secretary general of Cervantes, Rafael Rodriguez-Ponga, took stock of the academic year 2014-2015, in which there were 200,295 enrollments, and provided budgetary data for 2016, the year in which the state contribution will increase from 54 million 2015-65000000, which “guarantee stability” of this institution.

Rodriguez-Ponga said that successive budget cuts have prevented the legislature that ends now open new centers of the Cervantes Institute, except classroom San Antonio, Texas, and Harvard Cervantes, who “works intensively “but” it has survived all “of those who already had.

Only has temporarily closed the Damascus because the Syrian war, and “had to be closed for political reasons” that of Gibraltar, as already explained above.

And the Cervantes has kept its headquarters in the world because it is much more than “a language school,” Garcia de la Concha said.

On the other hand, officials of Cervantes talked about the first call for mandatory testing that will have to overcome those who aspire to obtain Spanish nationality by residence or by his Sephardic origin, a test that has been commissioned the institute and will be held on October 29.

1,371 people have registered for tests on the Constitution and the socio-cultural reality of Spain, which costs 85 euros ($ 96) that allows examined twice with a same register, said Rodriguez-Ponga.

On the website of Cervantes is a list of 300 questions and answers of which entresacarán the twenty that will make applicants. To pass you must answer either fifteen.

The Cervantes also hoped that the International Service Assessment of the Spanish Language (Siele), which will be operational in early 2016, is “an important source of funding over time.”

The Siele has launched the Cervantes Institute along with the National Autonomous University of Mexico and the University of Salamanca, and is conceived as “a more agile and quick instrument” to certify the degree of dominance Spanish through Internet, Garcia de la Concha said.

This certificate is valid for two years and will coexist with the Spanish Diploma DELE, whose validity is indefinite and has become “the official diploma of reference.”

During 2014-15 67 657 candidates have been DELE, which meant an increase of 9.2 percent over the previous year.

Despite the economic constraints, the Cervantes was able to celebrate 4,783 cultural events, which have assisted 1.1 million people. These activities helped almost 2,500 bodies, of which two thirds are foreign, especially Latin American.

The Cervantes Institute will also contribute to the formation of the refugees who come to Spain in the coming months. It will offer free Spanish courses via the Internet, that will support classes, both for children and adults, in order to facilitate their social integration.
