Led Zeppelin insists that there is no evidence of the alleged plagiarism

the lawyers representing the legendary band Led Zeppelin defended yesterday in the trial of alleged plagiarism of the song “Stairway to Heaven”, the applicants have failed to show evidence of the alleged illegal copy of the subject.

The lawyers of Led Zeppelin filed a brief in this regard as part of the trial that is being developed in Los Angeles, which will decide whether the famous introduction of “Stairway to Heaven” is a plagiarism of the instrumental song “Taurus”, the US group Spirit.

The lawyers argued, among other things, that the applicants have failed to demonstrate the similarities between the two subjects, not that Led Zeppelin could hear “Taurus” before writing his song, or showing who owns the rights to the composition of Spirit. Therefore, they demanded the end of the case and rule in favor of Led Zeppelin.

The trial began last week in the Californian city, where Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page, rejected accusations of plagiarism and said he had not heard the song Spirit to a few years ago.

The lawsuit against the British was admitted in April by Judge Gary Klausner in the Los Angeles, who said that there are enough similarities between the two songs.

The events date back to 2014, when the administrator Michael Skidmore, representing Randy California, now deceased, filed the lawsuit by the similarity between the theme of “Taurus” 1968, and “Stairway to Heaven”, published in 1971.
