After a long illness , the American author Michael Herr, considered a leading representative of the new journalism, died Thursday , to 76 years. Following his experience as a correspondent in the Vietnam War, he wrote his famous book “Dispatches war”, billed
as “the best book” that has been written about the conflict, according to The New York Times. He was also writer of “Full Metal Jacket” by Stanley Kubrick, and “Apocalypse Now” by Francis Ford Coppola.
