The Origin of film awards of the Academy goes back to 1929, when it decides to reward “excellence in cinematic achievements” to the then fledgling industry of film studios of Hollywood.
The first gala was held at a private lunch at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel on May 16, 1929 and 15 awards were presented by released between 1927 and 1928 jobs.
