Spirit Awards 2015: Meet the nominees – LaRepública.pe


          The winners of the Independent Spirit Awards, 30th edition, will be released next February 21, 2015, a day before the Oscars.
         

“Birdman” , the Mexican Alejandro González Iñárritu, Tuesday topped the list of nominees for the Independent Spirit Award with 6 nominations including Best Director and best actor for Michael Keaton.

also got nominated cinematographer of the film, the Mexican Emmanuel Lubezki, and supporting actors Emma Stone and Edward Norton.

The drama on the way to maturity “Boyhood”, the biopic about Martin Luther King Jr. “Selma” and the thriller “Nightcrawler” scored five nominations each.

Among other recognized tapes in the best picture are “Whiplash” and “Love is Strange”, both with four nominations.

Rosario Dawson and Diego Luna announced candidates for the 30th annual awards ceremony at the W Hotel in Hollywood. The Independent Spirit recognize the achievements of independent film, and there is usually hopefuls . Oscar in each category

The nominated actors are David Oyelowo for his portrayal of Martin Luther King Jr. in “Selma”; Jake Gyllenhaal for his role as a freelance reporter sociopath “Nightcrawler”; John Lithgow for “Love is Strange” and André Benjamin as “Jimi: All Is By My Side”.

The nominees are actresses Julianne Moore for her role in Alzheimer’s diseased “Still Alice”; Marion Cotillard for the historical drama “The Immigrant”; Tilda Swinton by vampire story “Only Lovers Left Alive”; Jenny Slate for comedy on abortion “Obvious Child”; and Rinko Kikuchi (who worked with Iñárritu Gozález in “Babel”) by “Kumiko, The Treasure Hunter”.

Film Independent, the organization behind the award also recognized “Foxcatcher” with a special award as “Inherent Vice” with Robert Altman Award. For unspecified reasons, none of these films could compete for individual nominations.

The Spirit Awards seek to recognize films that do not enter the mass market, but recent winners have finished with Oscar nominations and more.

Last year’s winners of the Spirit triumphed in Oacar in several major categories, including Best Picture ( “12 Years a Slave”), Best Actor (Matthew McConaughey for “Dallas Buyers Club”) and Best Actress (Cate Blanchett for “Blue Jasmine”).

The winners will be announced at a ceremony on February 21, 2015, a day before the Oscars. The Spirit ceremony will be broadcast live by IFC from Santa Monica, California.

The 341 nominated films were evaluated for their vision, thematic originality, resource economics and percentage of funding from independent sources. Only films with a budget of $ 20 million or less were considered.

The nominations are defined by the members of Film Independent, which includes critics, filmmakers, actors, programmers festivals, previous winners and nominees, as well as members of the board of Film Independent. (With information from AP)
